Buying land - Zillow Real Estate Advice

? If you have a specific piece of property in mind, start at the city zoning office in which the property is located.? They will be able to answer a lot of the questions you have regarding what can be built there if anything.? Some properties that have prices on them that are too good to be true usually are, and the zoning people will let you know right away usually because many others have come before you asking the same questions.? This is a red flag in most cases.? After getting all the info you can from zoning, you can go to permits and building department to learn more about the specific construction that is allowed in the area.? Deed restrictions will be something that you will want to pay close attention to also, some deed research should tell you all you need to know. Most of the city officials are going to be given you general answers to most of your questions, because you can only get specific answers on most things after you have submitted documents for approvals.? Remembering who you've talked to from the beginning will always help speed up the process, when and if you ever do return to pull a permit.
Good Luck,
Rick
