A Brentwood mortgage lender is undergoing rapid expansion, growing its employee base by double-digit percentage growth in the last month alone.
Churchill Mortgage Corp. is looking to add about 25 new people, including underwriters, loan processors, loan closers and sales support staff, according to the company. That comes on the heels or hiring roughly 25 people since the beginning of August.
Company president Mike Hardwick said the expansion of staff ? currently at about 300 employees ? is due to industry pain allowing Churchill to scoop up business.
Hardwick noted that the mortgage industry has ?completely and radically changed? in recent years following the downturn. Large national lenders went out of business, and that was mirrored in Tennessee, which has seen hardship in home lending and sharper regulation pushing weaker shops out of the market.
Churchill was in a position to capitalize on the turbulent industry, he said, through a variety of factors. The company has consistently been a conservative lender, has built trust with customers, eschews company debt and has a promotional partnership with radio personality and friend Dave Ramsey.
Those factors had already contributed to strong growth for the company.
?We count ourselves, first of all, very, very fortunate and blessed,? Hardwick said of the company?s expansion.
